Baja Sunset Cocktail
Ok, this one was fun.
My new obsession in life is the butterfly pea flower, which is a natural way to give your drinks a fantastic blue or purple hue. The dried flowers can be brewed into a tea that has an extremely vivid blue color, and when mixed with citrus (or anything acidic) it will change from blue to purple right in front of your eyes. It is utterly, utterly magical.
So, YASS I had to make a cocktail with it. In fact, I also had to buy seeds and plant it in my cocktail garden.

To make one drinkie-poo:
1 oz. guava juice
1 oz. aloe juice
1.5 oz. tequila blanco
.5 oz Cointreau
.5 oz. fresh lime juice
.5 tbs. agave syrup
.5 oz. butterfly pea flower tea
1 aloe arm for garnish
A bit of agave syrup to rim the glass and a 1:1 ratio mixture of pink Himalayan sea salt and Turbinado sugar to coat the rim. Plus some edible star glitter mixed in if you want a little bling (I was trying to evoke the sparkle of a sandy beach at sunset with this. JUST LET ME DO MY ART!)
It is also important for me to note that this drink is also amazing if you swap light rum for the tequila, and dry curaçao for the Cointreau. I recommend one version for each hand.
Okay, start by prepping your glass. Rub a bit of agave syrup all along the rim and roll the glass in the sugar/salt mixture until thoroughly coated. Drop a large ice cube in the glass.
In a shaker over ice, add guava juice, aloe juice, tequila, Cointreau, lime, and agave syrup. Shake until chilled, and strain into glass. Float the butterfly pea tea over the top of the drink and garnish with an aloe arm.
Oh yes, that is one damned magical cocktail.
