Cosmic Crisp® Frosé
This is a sponsored post in partnership with Cosmic Crisp® apples and is intended for a 21 and over audience.
Frosé season is in full swing at DWC headquarters and when our friends at Cosmic Crisp® reached out to me to create an apple drink recipe perfect for summer entertaining—I knew it had to be frosé.
But in addition to the recipe—they asked me to be a judge in their Cosmic Crisp® Culinary Challenge which is an exciting new sweepstakes happening now. Submit your best Cosmic Crisp® apple recipe in one of three categories: Baking, Snacking, or Entertaining (I’m judging this category!). One winner for each category will receive a prize package of over $900 worth of awesome goodies including a Food52 shopping spree. HOW ‘BOUT THEM APPLES?!!
But….in the meantime, how ‘bout we frosé?
I was only introduced to Cosmic Crisp® apples last year—and let me tell you—they immediately became my new favorite apple. And I am PICKY about my apples. They are big, delicious, sweet, and yield the prettiest, tastiest pink apple juice (which I have used in quite a few cocktail recipes) with literally nothing else added to it. And heck yes we’re going to use that juice in this frosé.
And you know what else? We are going to batch this beautiful thing so you can make it for a party.
Cosmic Crisp® Frosé
MAKES 8 SERVINGS
INGREDIENTS
6 Cosmic Crisp® apples, cored and roughly chopped, skins left on
1 750 ml bottle of dry rosé wine
4 oz. apple brandy
2 oz. elderflower liqueur
Cosmic Crisp® apple slices to garnish
INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE COSMIC CRISP® APPLE JUICE
Place chopped apples in a large pot and fill with enough water to just barely cover the apple chunks.
Cover and bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
Uncover and simmer for an additional 10 minutes. Then remove from heat and cover and allow to cool somewhat.
Strain apples and juice through a fine mesh strainer, mashing the apples into a pulp and getting as much juice out of them as possible. This should yield about 1.5-2 quarts of juice.
Transfer liquid to an airtight container and store in fridge for up to a week.
INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE FROSÉ
Reserve 4 oz. of apple juice, but mix the rest with your bottle of rosé.
Pour this mixture into standard ice cube trays (you want about 4 standard ice cube trays full).
Freeze at least 6 hours ahead.
When you’re ready to serve, place pre-made cubes in blender, add brandy, elderflower liqueur, and reserved apple juice and blend until smooth.
Distribute the frosé evenly amongst coupe glasses, garnish with apple slices and serve immediately.
