Holiday Tiki Party with Havana Club Rum

The holidays are long gone, but we’re still reliving this fun as hell holiday-tiki mash up party we did with the help of our good friends at Havana Club Rum. Rum drinks, coconut bras, and tiki chickens are the perfect way to ring in the holidays, right? Especially when it’s 40 degrees and raining and the party almost got rained out. Don’t worry: we had heaters. One actually worked. But who needs heaters when you have delicious rum to keep you nice and toasty?
After months and months of planning and coordination (not to mention the fact that Havana Club Rum rep, The Amazing Gio Gutierrez, was flying out from Miami just for this party), two days before the event, we found ourselves in the midst of a very destructive and very MOIST rain storm that left not only the entire property in shambles, but 6 inches of standing water and muck on the back end of the yard. The end that includes the chicken bar, chicken garden, and basically the entirety of where we would be hosting said party. Needless to say I had a brief and dramatic tantrum. Okay, it wasn’t brief. There would only barely be time to get things moderately cleaned up and fixed in time for the party—which basically left no time for alllllll the amazing tiki decorations we had in store. And I pretty much live for tiki decor. But screw it…there would be rum, right? Good enough. THE SHOW MUST GO ON.
So by the hair on our chinny-chin-chins we got things pulled together…just in the bare knick of time.
Not only did we have Gio mixing up some amazing daiquiris and mai tais at the chicken bar…
We also whipped up some Havana Club Crema de Vie (Cuban egg nog).
Also…we challenged people to show up in their “holiday tiki finest”…so that was entertaining AF:
And of course…there were chickens. Many, many chickens. And chitchslaps. Many, many chitchslaps.
But the highlight of the night was definitely having Mr. Gutierrez behind the Chicken Bar, slinging amazing Havana Club Rum drinks .
Also of note: my dogs had fun.
It was wet, it was cold, and it was a blast. I think we might have to make this a tradition.
Thanks again to Gio and Havana Club Rum!!!
