Lost Grasshopper
We have been soooooo excited to get our hands on the new Lost Irish Whiskey and it just felt right to put it in a little green cocktail for St. Patrick’s Day. But make no mistake—this tasty triple-distilled spirit is lovely both in and out of a cocktail. It’s a fascinating combination of all three styles of Irish Whiskey: grain, malt, and pot still and then they go and finish this stuff in casks from all over the world. WHAT?! Gimme dat. It is soooo delicious to sip—almost sweet with a hit of spice and a pleasantly creamy mouthfeel. I like it alawt.
But you know I love me a Grasshopper variation for St. Patrick’s Day. So let’s make one.
LOST GRASSHOPPER
Makes 1 serving.
Ingredients:
1.5 oz. Lost Irish Whiskey
1.5 oz. heavy cream
0.5 oz. crème de menthe liqueur
0.5 oz. green chartreuse liqueur
3 drops chocolate bitters
Shamrock leaves to garnish (mint leaves are great, too!)
*A note about crème de menthe: typically you will find this in either a clear version or a bright green version. Either works fine, although I personally prefer the clear as I personally find that electric green color to be a little off-putting. A little mouthwashy-looking. The finished cocktail won’t be green in color if you use the clear, but I like to serve it in a green glass. SAME DIFFERENCE.
To make the drink: add ice to a shaker, and then add all ingredients except the garnish and shake until thoroughly chilled. Strain cocktail into a coupe or martini glass, garnish, and serve.
