Pink Poinsettia Cocktail

What?! Kate's making another pink bubbly cocktail?! UTTERLY ASTONISHING.

You know the good ol' festive Poinsettia cocktail...come on, you know it. It's basically a Mimosa, but instead of orange juice, it uses cranberry juice. SO CLEVER. SO FESTIVE. Some versions include vodka. Others include orange liqueur. Yeah. This is like that.

My version is a nod to my favorite holiday flower...I have a serious thing for pink poinsettias, and they tend to show up in all my outside decor this time of year.

Sadly, thems poisonous...so I can't actually put thems in a drink. But one can pretend.

PINK POINSETTIA

To make one cocktail:

  • 2-3 oz. sparkling rosé

  • 1 oz. hibiscus tea (brewed according to instructions and then refrigerated)

  • 1 oz. cranberry juice

  • .5 oz. vodka

  • .5 organic grenadine

  • 3 dashes orange bitters

  • orange peel

  • cranberries and edible flower petals (such as dianthus or rose)to garnish

Combine tea, cranberry juice, vodka, grenadine, and orange bitters in a shaker and shake over ice until chilled. Rub orange peel along outer edge of fancy glass of choice. Strain mixture into glass and top with sparkling rosé. Garnish with cranberries, flower petals, and orange peel.

PSA: don't let your chickens near the poinsettias, because: POISON. Fortunately, this one has on extremely effective hair blinders and was totally oblivious.
