The Barmoire + The Art of the Bar Cart Giveaway

***GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. WINNERS HAVE BEEN SELECTED AND NOTIFIED***

I've been promising a big giveaway for awhile, and celebrating my good buddy Ashley Conway's (Craft and Cocktails) beautiful new book The Art of the Bar Cart seemed like a really good excuse. Because you need this book, and because if you don't already have a beautiful bar cart, you need one to go along with the book. And if you have a bar cart, you need another one. Amirite?

But first things first: I wanted to give you a little tour of our own home bar. Please allow me to introduce: The Barmoire.

This is actually my giant TV cabinet from my childhood bedroom. Please enjoy the following images (pulled from Olive and Love's archives) from a sleepover party that only show bits and pieces of it, but you'll get the idea of how it used to look:

The faces of the innocent have been obscured. But please check out that awesome cordless phone.

Faces obscured again. Except for Olive and Love's because it's her photo and MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!

You know the kind of armoire. The finest country oak. VHS tape storage drawers. Sturdy lazy susan to support a bigass TV with a tiny, tiny screen.

It moved with me from that bedroom to my college apartment, to my after-college apartment, to my first home, and finally, to our current home. When we moved into this house, my husband angrily proclaimed, "I AM NEVER MOVING THIS STUPID THING AGAIN." Because that sucker is heavy. And by the time we moved it here, we weren't really using it for anything important anymore. TVs had long since shed such storage, and so it really wasn't useful to us at all. And did I mention it was heavy??? But I was kind of sentimental about it. And so I was hellbent on reinventing it so that my husband wouldn't take a chainsaw to it.

When in doubt: add booze. You should have seen his face light up when I suggested we turn it into a bar.

A little paint and wallpaper, a few added shelves and lights, and a retrofit of the lazy susan so that it's a swiveling, telescoping cutting board...and that outdated beast is actually a pretty decent bar. Not gonna lie though...we have a lot of overflow of bottles in our kitchen cabinets.

Those VHS storage drawers are so versatile.

But enough about our bar, let's talk about your bar. Or, more specifically, your bar cart. Don't have one? Well, hopefully, that's about to change.
