A Holiday Wreath Making & Cocktail Party...Despite Chickens
I decided I wanted to make a fresh Christmas wreath this year. And then after a little deliberation, I decided I wanted company, and that I definitely wanted cocktails while I did it.
BEHOLD: A Wreath Making and Cocktail Party! Huzzah!!!!
The concept was simple: I'll provide the wreath materials, Shaker & Spoon will provide the cocktails (in the form of their Gincember cocktail box), and you all come over and make wreathes and cocktails for yourself. Also: there might be chickens. There always might be chickens.
Since we're in SoCal, we'll make our messes out on the deck (under the heat lamps because 65 degrees is brutal).
A DIY cocktail bar is a must, and thanks to Shaker & Spoon, we had everything we needed to make three awesome gin-based drinks: The Take Flight cocktail (gin, cold brew coffee, cherry demerara syrup, and lemon zest), the Above a Persimmon cocktail (gin, spiced persimmon cordial, lemon juice, Angostura bitters, and freshly grated nutmeg), and the Flaming Rosemary Gimlet (charred rosemary, Underberg bitters, gin, simple syrup, and lime juice). And the gin selection is from, where else? St. George Spirits.
I didn't want to be mixing cocktails for everyone all night (because, like I said, I wanted to make a wreath and drink cocktails), and the Shaker & Spoon cocktail box was the perfect solution for this, because it comes with those darned cute and informative recipe cards that detail exactly how to make everything. Everyone fended for themselves and it was glorious!
And can we take a moment to admire this flock of ADORABLE custom cocktail stirrers made for us by Jenn and Jules Designs? And you can buy your very own right here! Use the code DRINKINGWITHCHICKENS to get 10% off your purchase!
Once we all had gotten some drinks in us, it was time to dive into all that greenery and make some dang wreathes.
At my house, you gotta learn to work quick on these sorts of things, because, inevitably I'm going to turn the chickens loose on you. So watch your drink. And your chicken stir sticks.
Wishing you all a little time to fit in just this sort of holiday merriment, and I really hope it includes some gorgeous cocktails. And I really, really hope it includes some gorgeous chickens. Or not gorgeous...since mostly everyone's molting right now.
