Drinking with Emily Reid Art + Menagerie
Once again, my good buddy, Laura (oliveandlove.com), proves to A) have the coolest friends, and B) be wholly unconcerned with whether or not it's weird to show up at their houses to drink with their chickens. And I ain't in a position to question my good fortune. With almost zero notice, we showed up at the magical house of Emily Reid Art, and I'm not sure I've fully recovered from the joy coma I fell into because of it.
First of all, Emily is an incredible artist, and her whimsical, color-filled animal paintings are everything. E. V. E. R. Y. T. H. I. N. G. Her house, though, is the living, breathing embodiment of her work; saturated with color, texture, merriment, and yes... animals.

Not only are there chickens, but also turkeys, donkeys, pigs, goats, ponies, a Sulcata tortoise, and dogs. Let's see...am I forgetting anything? Oh, right--and a house pigeon named Tubs.
I repeat: A HOUSE PIGEON NAMED TUBS.
Let's look at Emily's art, ok? OK!
To say her house is my version of heaven on Earth is an understatement:
Basically, I am trying to tell you that you all need to go follow Emily on Instagram so that you get to experience the joy of her home, animals, and art in your feed. And while I'm telling you what you should do with your life--go buy her art. You need this on your walls (and yes, she does paint chickens---in fact...stay tuned because there may just be a special collaborative giveaway in the not-too-distant future).
Cheers to life imitating art, and to always being surrounded by animals.
